unfamiliar oxy tank.
Anyone familiar with this oxy tank?
I got kicked this rig gratis & want to use it, but is it not illegal to fill or transport tanks with no screw on top?

Re: unfamiliar oxy tank.
does seem like a problem, doesn't it? I would call your LWS and see if they will fill it.

Re: unfamiliar oxy tank.
I had a "baby" set of tanks for years that looked to be about the same sizes. The O2 did not come with provision for a cap. No problems with my suppler in MN. I concur with checking your LWS, but I'm thinking you are OK as long as you observe the same precautions you would with transporting any other cylinder.

Huh..............thanks, guys - seems odd as the Oxy is the 2000PSI one?
Anybody else?
I'll get another tank if so - I want a new station so I don't have to drag hoses.
Nice regs for nada!
Previous owner built two bikes but is now one of my best frame clients.

Hi Steve--
Nice score!
Don't know about regulations in AZ, but it is against the law in CA to transport cylinders like that without a screw-on cap to protect the valve. Seems like a good precaution, IMHO.

Re: unfamiliar oxy tank.
Home Depot won't fill it for you, but most have a 'tank swap' program (drop off your empty, pick up a full one). They're usually not too picky if the drop off doesn't exactly match the pick up. If its no bueno, the company that runs their swap program will take it out of circulation.
I've had one just like it. I assumed the smaller tanks aren't required to have the cap. I also assumed these smaller tanks are used mostly in health care.

Kind of what I was wondering.

I have that same size, and none of the ones I've gotten from my LWS have had cap threads.
Also, I think Gaap's Home Depot is special, cause none of the ones up here do anything except propane bbq grill tanks.

Almost every HD is this area has the tank exchange going. Its handy because they are open Sundays. They also swapped me a big one, when they ran out of smaller ones. same price.

Looks like either a 22CF or 40CF tank. Perfectly safe to transport with out a safety cap as long as it's not rolling around the bed of a pick-up full of bowling balls.
