Stainless fork drop out

Is it possible to braze a stainless fork drop out to a slotted fork end using Fillet Pro, would this be strong enough?
My method so far has been brazing in a plug with brass, file the slot and then silver braze the drop out.
Am I overdoing this, and can I skip the plug step?

Yes, it will work well if the proper preparation is followed. Please make sure that you clean the dropout and internal bore of the stay well. Sand with 80-120 grit well and remove any oxidized surfaces (i.e. the rough side of a paragon dropout) Clean with a solvent and then use within an hour to minimize the oxide that naturally builds on stainless.

If you like you can create a set of split sleeves. A steel rod the same size as the bore, split and grind down to fit into the sides if there is a lot of space. Small pieces of large welding rod can also help in the same way to reduce the amount of silver needed and create a better bond between stay and dropout.

The only times we have ever seen an issue it was due to inadequate preparation, but then again that is what causes 99% of all issues with bicycle frames.
