Canti front brake cable housing stop

Gentlepeople,

I've started my #2, it's a light tourer/commuter, and I'm doing canti brakes on it. It seems from searching around that most cross/touring bikes that use canti brakes use the front hanger that gets installed with your headset. Does anyone install some sort of cable stop tower off the front of the headtube instead of going with the type that attach to the headset? Would it be heinously ugly or not work for some reason I can't think of? I can't find any pics on the web, but it's sort of hard to search for. Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

The hanger needs to turn with the bars/fork. Head tube doesn't turn.

As an alternative you can use the crown mounted hanger that many CX'ers use :

I have had success with Suntour Power-Hangers. They work best with Suntour cantis of the same vintage, however.

Of course. I knew there had to be a simple answer.

This explains why the only "brazed" solution I saw was the one that goes through the inside of a stem - as that turns with the fork...

I feel dumber already!
