emphasis on "proper tools" ...and knowing how to use them. That's a pretty badass project; not too many folks in the DIY hi-fi world who would willingly take on a B&W Matrix enclosure.

I'm friends with B&W's VP of Sales & Marketing, I gotta show him this! :)

That would be a great idea...I think he could really appreciate the effort that went into this project.

Insane. My sub just blew and I've thought about DIY. After watching that I won't even bother.

And speakers are too close to rear and side walls.

Here is some updated info on the project:

The place he works manufactures dewatering elements for paper mills. B&W hooked him up regarding design and sold him the parts/crossover as well so that he could complete them. Prior to these, he built some KEF towers that also looked like the originals. Pretty impressive stuff!

He said his cost was about $9,000, so cheaper in terms of materials, but given all the hours of labor he put into them, probably not when valuing time. Then again, he enjoyed doing it.

You missed the point ... this ain't about a beautiful bike build with a stem that is too short.

    :)
Not too many folks in the DIY audio world have 40-gajillion square foot shops etc. etc., not to mention 9,000 bucks at their disposal. I'm still feeling OK with what I accomplished in my microscopic spare bedroom.

    YO!!!,
I've seen many wonderful sounding speakers misplaced so they sound as an average speaker. They need some air round them.
    Work is amazing, no doubt!

The end result is nothing short of stunning, but I'd stop short of calling it DIY, in the sense the term is commonly used nowadays. That person has professional grade skills, so I think the term may be mis-used. I think it's like saying a (insert name of bike) is a DIY project because it was built by (insert name of single-man shop builder). Either way, they are professionally made products. But I digress...

    It's beautiful.

A good snapshot keeps a moment from running away. It is really nice gallery I like it so much. Taking pictures is savoring life intensely, every hundredth of a second. There are no bad pictures; that's just how your face looks sometimes.
