Default Headtub Lug for 1 1/2 lower forks, is there such a thing?

Just think a ways out. Does anyone make a lug that would allow the use of 1 1/8- 1 1/2 road fork. Any examples or other solutions. Is this a bad idea. Some sort of headset solution. Is the answer right there and I do not see it. Thank you for any input.

44mm head tubes for 1 1/2 are huge. Hanging a lug on the outside of that would make it extra huge. I can live with that on a mtb or utility bike, but I am not sure I care to build a road bike that looks like that. Production bike companies are doing it, no doubt about that

This might be 1" to 1 1/8" though, Rene Herse Tandem
