    Default Flying through DC

Mrs. Haole has a flight going through Dulles this week. The UAL website is showing no problems. I don't think that they are particularly reliable....

Is air traffic thru DC working OK, or is the whole east coast effed for a while?

Local news just showed Dulles airfield filling or rather re-filling with airplanes. Things are very backed up according to the news. That's all I got. Let me know if there is anything that I can do bro. Guest bed is all fluffed up if needed.

She isnt going until late tomorrow and then figure another 10-12 hours to get to DC. I will make sure that she has your contact info in case of a long delay. Thanks for the assist.

DCA and IAD are getting back to normal rapidly. Same with BWI and PHL. It's mostly the New York airports that are in bad shape, in particular LGA.

One more thing, check the websites of the airports in question and look for irregularity updates. I found that to be useful during my 3 nights in Montreal.

JK2K - good advice passed along. New one to us. Sounds like a good source of info that the airlines will not tell you.

JS - Mrs says she wants to be picked up in that "cool car".

I'm probably being alarmist, but as of last night there were 1000 or so folks stuck here because of east coast weather delays. I can only imagine that it gets worse the closer that you get to the east coast.

to say that UAL treated me pretty badly on a recent trip to California would be an understatement. I wouldn't suggest trusting them at all. I haven't worked out how to use this to inform a strategy for travel yet, except that I'm not taking any trips I don't have to make.

Had several international consultants flying in/out of Dulles yesterday and today. Yesterday was very busy with some delays, today is back to normal. As airports go, Dulles isn't bad, although dealing with United there can be a long frustrating process since they have a practical monopoly on US government international travel out of Dulles- they know it and their long lines and crap customer service reflects it.

Their crap customer service is not confined to Dulles.

I need names. How's a guy supposed to crack heads wid-out some direction?
No kidding, good luck. This is not an easy business to find quality service from airlines front desks.

    Correct. Not bad, terrible.

On the plus side, it did move out of the worst spot a few years ago when they eliminated most of the 'mobile lounges' and added a few fast food joints.
