Default Taking the shine out of chrome

The pitlock seat collar on my bike appears to be chrome plated. It is a bit to shiny for the bike.

Perhaps take some fine steel wool to it? Are there some chemicals that may turn down the bright a little?

The bolt is stainless and the collar is aluminum. You could use the light grey Scotch-Brite I sent on the aluminum collar. Don't go too nuts and take off the protective anodizing.

Just a note on steel wool, don't use it on stainless because it will leave iron bits in the stainless and rust.

Thanks. I will keep the steel wool far away.
