Hey Kris, have you worked out or got any idea on the size and pricing for the posters yet?

I have, but it's dependent on quantity, size and number of colors. I'll be collaborating with these prints with a print shop in Dover, NH (Brainstorm). We've spoken and and we're going to be printing these early summer for a summer release (just when our schedules meet up and planets are aligned). I have one last one I'm working on now, but did not want to speak further with the print shop until I had everything finalized on my end. (a lesson I've learned many times over in the design world...)

Don't want to print too many, but not too little. These will be in the $35-40 range which seems to be the going price of a nice, hand printed piece on archival heavy weight stock, signed and numbered.

But like I stated earlier, I'll release dates, pricing and how to purchase when all the details are finalized early this summer. I will most likely be turning these into t-shirts too...

Size will be in the 18" x 24" range btw.

Working on a web refreshment. Clean. Simple. Mobile compliant. I've got the clean and simple thing finished, mobile compliant I'm still hashing out but it's getting there. Here's a sneak peek to all who want to have a look behind the 0101 Curtain. Best if viewed from Safari, Google Chrome and Firefox. Looks kind of like this... Enjoy. Take note of the link a the top "SHOP". Much requested Schwag goes there. Messing with image quality now.

HA! The link above is only a shell of the site and any outgoing links that do go anywhere are just placeholders. I typically dial in the home page and then build out from there once that is working smoothly.

There will be a big announcement in all the usual places when things go live. So you're safe and sound as I'm a ways out before any of these changes you're getting to peek at go live for the rest of the world...

Part of all these requests for product other than bikes means a place to sell them efficiently. With that comes some web development-which is fine, but if I'm going to spend some time with code, I might as well also give the site a redesign overall. It's nice for the overall progression of the brand or any brand to do this occasionally. That's what I love about 44 Bikes: I decide when, what, how, who... everything. That's a blessing a maybe a curse at the same time. But it really allows me to fully realize creatively. I was not able to do that previously and having made the steps that I have, I wouldn't change anything - it's been fulfilling to say the least. Maybe more time in the day and more capital in the bank would help, but things tick along nicely so I can't complain.

Default WTB Nano 40mm : Thoughts

So I've got some time now on the WTB Nano 40mm's that Will at WTB was kind enough to send over to 44HQ for me to "test". Long story short: These tires RIP.

More thoughts via the 44 Blog after the jump.

tell me 'bout that internally routed dropper post. what size seat tube do you need to use? did it affect your build significantly? no curving of the seat tube to tuck the rear wheel in extra tight?

I'll have more pics once one last part arrives (correct dropout hanger). But the post is a Rock Shox Reverb Stealth with 125mm of adjustment. Post size is 30.9mm. True Temper/Henry James has a 30.9 I.D. seat tube which is pretty beafy and that is what was used. I'm working on tooling to radius 1.375" O.D. tubes, but it wasn't quite right for this build. So rather than wait, we went ahead and went with a straight seat tube. The bike is 27.5 / 650b and meant for rough stuff and knarly DH runs so the longer stays and wheelbase won't hurt any IMO - if anything it will add a layer of stability at speed.

The stealth aspect was fun to work with. Hydraulic line comes out of the bottom of the seat post, and is routed through a port on the non-drive side which then runs up the length of the down tube on the same side. Client requested specifically that the dropper lever be a right handed model, but mounted upside down on the left hand side of the bars next to the front brake. Here's a shot of the port being brazed in place:

So I braze that port reinforcement ring in place much like I do the ports for Di2 routing, and then mill the slot in this case on the bridgeport after everything is cleaned up. Turns out pretty nice and clean.

I'll have more pics once the build is completed - hopefully this friday on FNL and here in my Smoked Out.

But the radius on a 1.375" tube was almost right. Have to work out a few kinks (no pun intended...) in the way I do it as opposed to the 1.25". Just need some extra time to do that-most likely in between the next few builds I'll take a day or two here and there to rework the tooling. I'm close, the first bends were almost there - but the work required is significant enough that I did not want to delay the build as the client is picking it up on the 1st of june and we'll be heading out for a ride for a little local dirt. He's coming from England and it's been long in the coordination.

Here's the whole build set for those interested.
