Or maybe not. Baltimore is completely out of control at this point.

I've been swarmed by a ghettomoto crew (on bike) here in Philly a few times. It's terrifying.

I finished MSF last month and in the process of gearing up. Does anybody have any suggestions for do it all, casual, protective wear? I don't really want to look like a racer or Ewan McGregor or a frumpy american.

    I just bought a Suzuki Bandit 600 for $750.

when the 'end of civilization' occurs, i'm sure the words Walmart and ammunition will be included in the description.

Went to MotoCorsa a month ago and bought a Vapor Jacket and pants. Very pleased with fit and finish of both items.

Good to know. Revzilla is here in philly and they push Revit gear. I've been looking seriously at the Ignition 2 Leather/mesh hybrid jacket.

Rather than wishing the death of random individuals comprising "the end of civilization" on the internet, my takeaways are:

    a) Kids will always be kids - our traditional Sunday Ride produced many fatalities over the years.
    b) Baltimore via GoPro on one wheel is interesting
    c) The locals are tolerant
    d) LEOs are wise not to chase
    e) I'd rather these guys be on motos than in cars
    f) Man I wish I had those skillz

ok. in all seriousness i was only kidding.....jeez.

i'd agree with most of the points above.

Revzilla is a great resource. I've dropped some coin there just recently. Should have the Akrapovic here on Thursday.

Okay - i'll cut you some slack on the ammunition (different strokes, agree to disagree and all that). But, damn it, at least buy your ammo at a local independent gun dealer.

Jacket recommendation: Vanson. I have the Pro-perf. If (when) you go down, this will help you get back up.

    Nice bike!

I've used strap-on knee guards with boots, and Rigg's Wear Ranger cargo pants (double-layer cordura on the knee/thigh). Lots of good looking non-racer type jackets out there. I've worn Teknik, Joe Rocket, and Tourmaster.

But get armored gloves. Leather is great (kangaroo leather is awesome), just make sure that the knuckles are armored.

It wasn't in my budget at the time but I wish I'd have gotten a Vanson. I did wind up with a Joe Rocket at a fraction of the cost and I really like it, but it's not the quality or the cashe as the Vanson.

I've still got a full armored set of the kevlar clothes by Cycleport. They are awesome in every way. Would sell at a very attractive price as my moto days are behind me. Hi-Viz mesh kevlar coat and black schoeller keprotech pants:

It's wicked sinister. I'll post something later today if times allows.

There is a Frenchie that posted one on you tube with the baffle out and it's out of control.

Agree with all your points. The whole time I kept thinking that I liked seeing this versus a bunch of DUI scooters flooding the streets. Clearly these guys know how to ride. I thought, "dammit I wish I could ride a wheelie like that, on purpose, and not loop the thing out". Not sure I'd do it without a helmet so I hope these fellers have someone at home that will change their diapers after they smack their head on the ground. But failing that, I thought it was pretty damn cool. Plus it seems that a lot of these guys figured out that a dirt bike is half the price of a Gixxer, half the weight, and twice the durability. Not a bad combination if this is the type of riding you do.

Jackets! I bought a Belstaff last year. The most expensive piece of motorcycle clothing I've ever bought with the exception of my race leathers. My thoughts are that it is hyper cool ("Fonzie" cool not "cold weather" cool), it is comfortable and I don't look like a tool wearing it when I get 10 feet away from the motorcycle. Ultimately though, all of that can be had for much less cost and there are pages after pages after pages of good jackets on most of the motorcycle gear websites. A couple things to consider, black is stylish but some like to have some color to be seen. So if you have a black jacket maybe a bright colored helmet is in order. Articulated shoulders and elbows are a must. A jacket that is comfortable while standing may not necessarily be comfy when on the bike and vice versa. Plan ahead: something with a waist zipper so you can zip up riding pants isn't a terrible idea. Textile jackets have come a long way in terms of protection and you don't sweat like a Teamster wearing it on a Summer day. Get good gloves. A gauntlet glove with knuckle protection is a must.
