I hope that Ural didn’t stay on the lazy path and just reverse engineer Chernobyl for the power plant.

The year must have been 2001 or so. I was at a gas station in Custer, SD filling up my truck when I heard a couple of motorcycles pull in that sounded interesting (in other words, not the typical HD that permeate the Black Hills). When I finished I walked over to look at them and to my surprise they were a Honda GB500 and a Vincent Black Lightning. I chatted with the Vincent owner a bit, they were from Cincinnati and on vacation. He said that he was a member of a Vincent club there and was the only one who actually rode his bike, which struck me as kind of sad. Unfortunately I didn't have a camera with me that day so no pics....but there's no doubt that will probably be the only time I'll ever see a Vincent on the road.

That Vincent gets ridden fairly regularly, but he has another one that is just a show piece. He also has several of the kind T.E. Lawrence died on, the Brough Superior. When men were men...

I added a Yamaha WR450F to my stable this week. I rode it around the block a couple of times and DAYUM! does that front end get light easy. I think there will be a set of supermoto wheels in my future...

I spent some time working on the suspension, steering bearings, painting plastics and replacing the handlebars on my old G650x this winter, then bought a house and spent every spare minute doing the basement. First real ride of the year tonight. Glorious evening here in southern Manitoba.

Someone had a Bultaco when I was a kid—one of the adults I knew. I thought it was amazing that a bike came from Spain, and I loved the lettering on the tank. I only knew Japanese dirt bikes.

Always loved the Spanish bikes. Had a unique sound to them.

Bultacos were big where I grew up. My neighbor had a 350 Sherpa T and I owned a 370 Frontera for a while. They were a PITA to start though, the kickstarter was on the left side and they were notorious for 'kicking back'....a friend I met later in life broke his leg when his 175 Pursang 'kicked back' and sent his leg into the handlebar.

I had a '74 Rickman 250 powered by a 250 Montesa. It had so much torque a three speed transmission was all they equipped it with. It was a hoot to race at Budds Creek with all those giant hills. It wasn't too bad to start though.

Motoheads >>> I seek hive advice. 2012 BMW GSA blah blah blah. I've gathered most of the cr@p needed to perform basic maintenance. Until now all is swell using the center stand. I'd like to work on the bike elevated so I'm not sitting on cold concrete. What's the smart move here?

Budget determines where you go on this. SO how much ya wanna spend? Got a compressor? And a wheeled seat is an easy addition.

We bought a Harbor Freight hydraulic stand for I wanna say 200. It's lifted about 12 different bikes over the last 5 years without a peep.

Yeah. That's the one we bought. It's pretty solid and I have no complaints about it.

I've used the tie downs a couple of times but generally use a paddock stand.

Depending on your car situation you can drive a truck, SUV over it in the garage so it doesn't take up crucial floor space when not in use.

I bought one (Harbor Freight) a few months ago. It lasted about 3 weeks before the pump went south. They didn't have a replacement and no idea when one would arrive. Got my money back and am seeking a used Handy lift.

Just an observation/update on the BMW GSA. Dang, it is quite capable. I've moved it to our campground in Floyd, Va and am riding with a pal who is a pro moto instructor. Boy howdy are we having a blast. My pal knows every twisty road in the state. What a hoot. I've missed riding motos.
