British rocker Jon Lord, former keyboardist for Deep Purple, dies at age 71 - The Washington Post

I was never a particularly huge fan of Deep Purple, I know next to nothing about Jon Lord other than that he was their keyboard player ...but this still feels like losing a close family member. Maybe because "Smoke On The Water" was popular right about the time I made the decision to pursue music as a career (and as an obsession), smack dab in the beginning of my "formative years"?

If there's a B-3 in heaven Jon's gonna play the living shit outta it.
