18bikes makes a tapered HT (44mm lower, 1-1/8" external upper) that will work for HTs between 100-130mm: EIGHTEEN 44mm Tapered Headtube :: £42.00 :: FRAMEBUILDING :: Headtubes :: 18 Bikes Web Shop

Paragon makes HTs for the 44mm ID standard in a variety of lengths.

I have searched for 44/49 tapered with no luck. The two listed above are the only two I have come across. Mid BB shells are difficult to find as well.

I got these done for a job and am getting these done in batches of 50 they are OK price wise You can take your pick from CNC or a flowformed (grain aligned) process

Drawing is available and material properties are similar to >4340

Willie 44/49 is no problem if you can take 10 at a time its just a program change I have bottom bracket shells coming for the same job

let me know the price and I would be interested in 44/49 at 110-120mm. I might want one or two in 49/49 but I wouldn't need 10 in 49/49. Hell I don't need 10 of anything really, but I will be building a few frames for friends and family and having options would be great.

I am making these as stock items for sale.
    Machined from Solid 1045 Alloy.

I am also machining Integrated Head tubes (I am calling them Aero head tubes) from DOM 4130. (see photo= tallest one)
The major wall thickness is .8mm for 44/49 and .7mm for Aero.
They typically run @ 1.2 grams per MM of length.
    MSRP (Small).jpg
They are both machined .5mm undersized for reaming.
Above are the sizes that I stock, but for a fee I am happy to machine custom sizes.
The Integrated is based on the Shimano Integrated Standard 41mm

I don't have a site an E commerce site up yet, but feel free to contact me.

Good to see there are now a few options in CrMo.

Anybody doing one in 17/4 stainless?

Looks sexy but the DT miter scares me a bit.

    It's really not that bad.

I made a video of mitering to the Aero head tube. Took me 15 minutes from picking the tube up to ready for tacking.
the 44/49 is slightly harder because the taper is more convex than concave, but the principle is the same.
I determine where on the head tube the uppermost portion of the DT aligns, measure the OD of the head tube there and find the closest holesaw that's not greater than. I then use BikeCAD to determine what the included angle is from the centerline of the DT to an effective straight line between the upper point of contact and lower point of contact of the DT HT cope. (This assumes a tappered head tube has been modeled into BikeCAD, which is pretty easy)
I cope the DT based on the angle I just determined. From there it's just a matter of using a file or your shaping implement of choice (I like files and a drum sander) to open the copes two diameters accordingly, as the angle is set already and the back edges of the cope are established.

I'll try to get a video of this one soon.
