I consider myself a bit of an amateur photographer, but not a student of the art/profession. Trying to change that a little bit.

Just read a Robert Capa bio, Blood and Champagne

Pretty amazing stuff. He is supposedly known as one of the forefathers of war photojournalism but the book reads like damned Forrest Gump. Quite a cast of varied characters appear in his life. Henri Carter Bresson, Hemingway, Steinbeck, Ingrid Bergman. He was THE guy on D-Day as far as photos were concerned.

Well worth the read. If anyone has recos on similar subjects, I am all ears.

Both he and HCB had their fingers on the pulse ... you can basically look up any major event during their time and find a few of their photos.
