I've learned that when the doctor says to take it easy for at least two weeks after my knee arthroscope, I should listen to him. Day 8 and I've done too much and now it's swollen up. Oxycodone and ice packs.

I learned about Phorusrhacidae , et al., also known as Terror Birds. Apex predators!

The ultimate dirt road bike is steel and has a 1" head tube (quill stem too, yessir). Now scientifically proven.
Don't worry, you can get your 44-mm head tube sleeved down.
Oxycodone works thru the sedative effect not by actually 'blocking' anything.
The surgeon that dug out my ruptured disc said that often times active people with lots of lean muscle mass (read cyclists) respond better to anti inflammatorys than sedative type meds.
I recovered from a L-4/5 dysectomy with 800mg of ibuprofen 4 times a day for a week and then half of that for 2 more, nothing else.
I learned that no matter where in the world a Canadian wins something, another Canadian will find a hockey stick and attach a flag to it.

I'm down to 400mg motrin. I'll get the stitches out on wednesday and be further evaluated. Getting the most painful thing fixed is like patching a leaking roof, after the big hole is covered you find all the other leaks. I see celebrex in my near future. Maybe when I retire in september and have more time to ride, the activity will lesson the little aches and pains.

Trying a new brew with honey added in place of of some the the Barley sugars.
We'll see how it is in a few weeks.
Bubling away in the fermenter.
Also I learned people are A-holes when a cyclist is killed.
A young HS student was hit and killed in Charlotte this AM.
And all the comments ran like, "Bikes don't belong on the road. Stay on the sidewalk......."
Well it turns out the kid was on the sidewalk and hit some debris which pitched him into the road in front of an 18 wheeler.
I said some prayers for him and the family.
Real life changing findings out?
I am not bitch stewie.
The constant lesson that its hard to put a price on service. And people who don't know the value of that just aren't worth it.
Got some cash
Bought some wheels
Took it out
'Cross the fields
Lost Control
Hit a wall
But we're alright
septoplasty is a bitch. it'd better be worth it

the week i don't learn a few things is most likely going to be followed by my funeral. i'm always soaking up stuff and having "aha moments".
highlights for the week: all the presenters and participants at Ballers, mickey's clinic, va bbq, how fast i can change a waterpump with borrowed tools on a hot engine (the benefits of traveling during business hours!), how to build a fork, and stuff like that.
Learnt from life !
keep yourself safe :)
