    Default The Hunt for Spruce

I'm quite certain that there are more than a few acoustic guitar players on the forum that would appreciate this Larrivee video on tone woods.

My spruce (Sitka) came from the same area, but it's been so long I can't even remember
the name of the guy who cut it for me. The wood was so spectacular that I would buy a
low grade bearclaw and the wood was just stunning. Believe I paid $25 - $28 for a pair
of cants for an archtop. Looking back I guess that price was actually pretty hard to beat.
Wish I had bought a lot more, but it would have been so I could just hoard it since I no
longer have the time to build. BTW... anyone want to buy some ebony fret boards? I'll
make you a good price, but it may not be cost effective to ship just one.

Somewhere I have a photo of that bearclaw top. Looks a lot like a D'Aquisto. Stunning wood.
