Are you talking about the color or the leather? I only refer to cordovan when I talking about the leather.

Thats too bad! My go to combo for damn near everything is a pair of raw denim jeans and some wingtip brogues.

I have some Campanile cordovan wingtips that are a full decade old now and are amazing. Great investment.
Grenson used to be the shit, but I think they are outsourcing most of their line.

Here's the deal, and we discussed this on 6th Ave and 53rd St after leaving that bar with the mushroom pizza. Cordovan is a material AND a color. Its horse hide and typically a burgundy/oxblood color. You see it used mostly in loafers.

So be more specific with your needs, bb, and daddy'll scratch that itch.

I agree about the Aldens. But if I were going for ones to do double-duty, I would pick bluchers instead of balmorals. So, in short, I'd get the Alden Longwing, but preferably on the marginally slimmer Grant last rather than the standard Barrie. It really only works well with less structured suits in heavy fabrics - like a 12oz flannel, but then it could be used with both suits, odd jackets and trousers, and jeans.

Either way, I think a dress shoe looks best with slim cut jeans. You tend to wear looser jeans, which would pool around the shoe, giving you tiny foot syndrome. If you rolled them, they'd look like sailor pants.

Step up your denim game while you're stepping up your shoe game. Or, BBoy shoes with BBoy pants.

Wore the McAllisters in Merlot to work today:

Very cool shoe. Though they are a bit snug in the forefoot (admittedly one of their most narrow lasts). I do not have a wide foot and am somewhere between a 13 and 14 in most shoes. I went with 13 on these shoes and the length is perfect, but as mentioned they are a bit tight in the toebox.

I do not know that I could pull these off with jeans, though I probably haven't the correct jeans.

I'm insanely happy with my cordovan Alden Leisure Hand Sewns (Van last). It is strange to have a pair of fine shoes that really don't need much polish. I want to try a pair of the Alden Long Wing Blucher (Barrie last) someday.
