Recommendations for eye protection when brazing

What do you use for glasses/goggles when brazing? Welding goggles, dark sunglasses, nothing at all?

Most builders use either a shade 2 or 3 because of the thin nature of our work. For heavier castings with bronze consider you may consider a shade 4. Some like the gold tint or didymium. You should never braze without eye protection, and you shouldn't even be in you shop without it. It only takes a single mis-hap.
Clear or lightly tinted flash glasses are Okay as far as seeing what you are doing, but over time the light exposure may result in eye fatigue or vision damage. Sun glasses generally don't offer adequate protection from projectiles and fumes. Projectiles would include drying flux that cracks and flies off the cooling joint.
At that time it is like hot acidic glass shooting off the metal at high speed.

I use a shade 3 safety glass for most bronze, a face shield with a shade 6 for gas welding and cutting, and a prescription set of sodium flash glasses that are about a shade 2 and cost a fortune.

I got the green ace IR 3.0 from Phillips,

They have a #2 welding shade in addition to the more specific filtering.

I find that shade 3 is too dark by itself, and the ACE coating adds filtering on top of that.

If you are going to do much gas welding, a darker shade is probably indicated.
