Reading these discussions of sauces and salsas and roasted this and that, got me thinking about chili. But it's too dang hot out for it just yet, so chili will surely get it's own thread here shortly...

I'm thinking of doing a batch of gazpacho in stead. I've had some good ones in the past (never personally made any yet) that were pretty straightforward, but I'm thinking of bastardizing a bit and roasting some poblanos and maybe 1/2 the tomatoes to add a great smoky flavor. I wanna keep some of the raw tomato in to hold a little of their wonderful flavor/texture. Maybe cook up some fresh ears of sweet corn and shave off the kernels into the mix. I love cooking but get impatient and never really follow recipes - just throw in what sounds good and what I know plays well together. Seems to usually work but I'm craving discipline on this. If not, it'll probably end up with fresh pineapple in it. Enlighten me with some favorite recipes if you got 'em. Cheers
