"find posts" search ?!!!

every time i try to locate some shit i've posted (or some of you) and it's off the front page of whatever section and i try to use the "find posts by" feature

the newest results i get are 6 months old.

do i have a preference/parameter screwed up somewhere or is that just how it works?

No help here other than saying I've had the same results. I'm so far behind on so many other projects in life, I just figured the internet was playing along.

Find Posts hasn't worked since the forum was upgraded some time ago. I try using the google search and hoping I score (like I do all day long with every other topic).

Yeah, I've never had much luck with the search function here.

Wade and others, I've had the same problem, but it seems to work better if you use the "Vgoogleista" box for searching on the upper left hand corner rather than the older search box on the right. the former one seems to go into archives while the other doesn't

sucks all 'round eh. yes i was doing the google site: search long before we had an especial window for it. the "all posts by" feature is GREAT for "getting to know someone" and I know i've used it that way in the past--rooting out trolls and idiots mostly.

sometimes, if _i've_ posted, i can find whatever in the list of "subscribed threads". but i use that feature so little that ...well, it's just so many clicks guessing where i'm going. it's like there are six ways to get to three different CP's or UI's or whatever it's called these days.

OK ok ok enough already!!! I put some time into fixing the internal search function and it appears to be working as well as it was ever intended to work as designed by the makers.

All that said I still claim that the custom Vgoogleista search I setup is far better.

Somebody owes me a box of homemade oatmeal cookies.

Yes! Thanks Toots! I'll use the Google search for general info - but if I need to track down something posted by a specific Forum member, the View Forum Posts is the man for the job.

Search engines are no joke to write, let alone have them perform well. i haven't seen one that performs 100%

For those wondering, to use google to search a site use this:
