    Default The China Study

Okay, so call me a slow adopter...

WadePatton has mentioned The China Study
nine separate times here on the VSalon
and I finally got a copy from Amazon for $10

Both my wife and I just finished reading it
and I must say thanks to WadePatton
he just may have saved my life

People need to read this book
it may be the only way to fix America's
health as well as Medicare and Medicaid

Here's a good online resource ---> Dr McDougall: Health & Medical Information
It was mentioned in the book ---> ::: THE CHINA STUDY :::

looks like an interesting read. might pick that up.
    although, this stuff isnt complicated...
eat fruits, veggies, nuts, lean meats, drink water...avoid processed & fake foods...keep it simple and get daily exercise
and we should be good, right?

    not so easy
the book presents much scientific evidence that animal protein is killing us by
promoting cancers, cardiovascular and autoimmune diseases, osteoporosis, etc.
and concludes that a plant based diet is essential to reverse these "diseases of affluence"
this from a guy who grew up on a dairy farm but spent a career researching nutritional biochemistry

    all that and _more_.

the cardiovascular aspects of health revealed in the book go far beyond what you might think. finding young, apparently healthy-by any bfi/height to weight or physical activity/ability measure, folks to be quite _un healthy_ was a big surprise.

Dr. Campbell's insider perspective on the FDA/Industry gives credence o those aspects of enlightenment as well.

Yes, Omnigrid, being of sound shape/activity level is a great start (and weigh yon better than "normal" or average), but it's not being all we can be.

people seem to like taking drugs instead of taking control of their nutrition.
i have a friend who had ovarian cancer that metastasized into lung cancer and
says that she "cannot" give up eggs and bacon at breakfast and "needs" to chew meat.

physicians like patients on drugs because they keep coming back to check the dosage.
unfortunately most physicians are trained to treat symptoms and not cure patients.
they know pills and procedures and the more activity the better for their practice, no?

why do we tolerate a system of high volume activity that delivers the worst health in the world?
will americans ever be willing to take control of their own health rather than use the "free" system?
hey wade, are we the only ones here?

so many beg for an answer
    that lies right before them

is it really that hard or
am i presumptuous of change and return to logic/human intuition?
its been said a million times before
    ---trust yer gut

    eat plants mostly
    lots of color
eat as many cups of leaves and watery vegetables
as you like in a day

    learn to eat more things

    soak and sprout your grain/beans
    before you (cook) eat it
don't eat acidic stuff all the time
    some people do.. :(

    drink good h20
    piss hearty on the reg

take pride in the awesomeness of a proper shit
be able to identify what exactly passes thru YOU
    on occasion
amazing what shit looks like when it wasn't chewed
    prior to your chewing!

    don't sterilize yourself (gut)
eat something you cultured on the regular

    stretch
    bodywork of yer choice
    most everyday
    sweat
    work out your lymph

    fuck ac/unnecessarily closed up houses
    keeps white people sickly
and unable to survive in the climates they live in

    take up a religion
    your own.

    practice that shit.

    be happy

    Great book.

Read this book before cancer touches your world- not after. There are some very powerful conclusions that merit some serious consideration.

sonny, your words are good, but they only touch a part of what that book is about.

the title methinks is part of the reluctance of folks to read it. that particular study, while massive, is only part of the information discussed.

as always, wade is correct and here are two excerpts to elaborate:

...many of the common notions you have been told about food, health and disease are wrong:
    • Synthetic chemicals in the environment and in your food, as problematic as they may be, are not the main cause of cancer.
    • The genes you inherit from your parents are not the most important factors in determining whether you fall prey to any of the ten leading causes of death.
    • The hope that genetic research will eventually lead to drug cures for diseases ignores more powerful solutions that can be employed today.
    • Obsessively controlling your intake of any one nutrient, such as carbohydrates, fat, cholesterol or omega-3 fats, will not result in long-term health.
    • Vitamins and nutrient supplements do not give you long-term protection against disease.
    • Drugs and surgery don’t cure the diseases that kill most Americans.
    • Your doctor probably does not know what you need to do to be the healthiest you can be.

...over 750 references in this book...including hundreds of scientific publications from other researchers that point the way to less cancer, less heart disease, fewer strokes, less obesity, less diabetes, less autoimmune disease (including Rheumatoid Arthritis), less osteoporosis, less Alzheimer’s, less kidney stones and less blindness...including:
    • Dietary change can enable diabetic patients to go off their medication.
    • Heart disease can be reversed with diet alone.
    • Breast cancer is related to levels of female hormones in the blood, which are determined by the food we eat.
    • Consuming dairy foods can increase the risk of prostate cancer.
    • Antioxidants, found in fruits and vegetables, are linked to better mental performance in old age.
    • Kidney stones can be prevented by a healthy diet.
    • Type 1 diabetes, one of the most devastating diseases that can befall a child, is convincingly linked to infant feeding practices.

but hey, it's easier to take drugs and surgery than to put down that bacon cheeseburger and ice cream float
it's more comforting to believe that doctors can cure us than the fact that we're responsible for our health, go figure...
