    Default Friday PicFest No.119

    it's friday someplace atmo -

here are a bunch of images from the last rs team frame for 2011. the pics show the joints
right after washing the flux off and before i file down the pins. no sandblasting, no rifflers, no
second passes, and no beret atmo...

    Headed to Portland and Iowa-

First up, James' travel stem for his Kirk S&S. Proprietary finish I'm working on to match the color and texture of brushed stainless:

Next up Mark's new front end for his DeSalvo- maximizing the tire clearance for larger meat under his record caliper while maintaining the same A-t-C and rake as the carbon fork it is replacing.
Brushed finish for just enough pop without overpowering his alloy Campy bits. While we were at it we added a small bag support rack for convenience.

Words (front end, stem) and more photos.

This old Méral is going to have a better life. Touring rig with full racks, lights and all the fittings. Canti bosses for centerpulls, expanding seat post, generator shift lever mounted on seat tube.

another week closer to having a separate steam loco building workshop to absorb my attentions with metal work (the Myford 254 is still in it's crate)
along side Mary Ann's art/pottery workshop
the final engineer's drawings for the extension being done at this time

oh and another Custodian frame started this week, a little one, so the head lug tangent shoreline blend trick is called upon
    and top head lug trimming
a lathe is a beautiful thing

Its been sometime since I haven't had to paint one of road bikes. A real treat for me as it gave me more time to bring this Corretto GTR to life.

Quickest build to date. Eight short evenings. Singlespeed for myself. Used at Nordic24 where our (singlespeed only) team placed as number 35 out of 112 teams.

I also found some interesting new marketing material from Richard Sachs in Sweden:

Letting the framesaver dry before hanging the Athena group and shipping to Texas.

Finding the bow in the seatstays

House-made seatstay caps on a Newvex lug

Time to polish up some lugs. All of the casting pits and marks have been filed out and the lug surface gets its first sanding treatment with 80 grit emery cloth. Bring on the pain!
