    Default need sunglasses

mainly for riding - but they'll have to do otherwise as well (I'll be doing well to keep track of one pair of optics).

was looking at jawbones. Matte black or white frames? anything else I should look at? radars are way wide for my narrow face, and most rimless frames look terrible off the bike imho.

Oakley Frogs or Jupiters if you're planning on wearing them off the bike.

Yo J-man, just yesterday I put in an order for one of those Rudy Project grouppos. You buy a pair of sunglasses at regular cost, and for "$19.99 shipping and handling" they throw in a bundle of schwag, which in this instance included a second pair of their "Lifestyle" sunglasses. In total, for 200 bones I got a pair of Horus, a second pair of glasses (I picked the Ultimatum), a helmet, some crappy watch, a jersey, and a bag that I'll be lucky if I use it more than twice before it gets lost in a corner of the basement.

Your options are limited when selecting the extras, but it's tough to beat.

Rudy Project Sunglass Combo Promotion - Get a FREE Helmet or Polarized Lenses!

BTW Oakley Frogs are awesome. Or, get a pair of Wayfarers. Timeless style, and I have a few pals who ride in them.

I just got a pair of Oakley Plaintiffs. Classic style aviator, very understated. Similar, but a bit more athletic feel, would be something like the Splinter.

I agree that if you must go with one universal pair, then ride in wayfarers, persols or something you like. Eventually just get some eBay brikos for the bike for like $25.

I look terrible in any wayfarers - or aviators for that matter. Face is too small. Jawbones actually look decent, and so do the crosshair 2.0s.

If you can get past the ear piece. That little flare is too much for me.

I picked up a pair of white jawbones in Texas a couple of months ago. At first I thought they were too much, but they have grown on me. Beyond the function of the glasses, I have received compliments on them. However, I would not wear them unless in my biking gear or riding.

Actually I have the same issue. But RayBan makes aviators in a smaller size and they work well. They are just hard to find as most don't stock.
Anyway I'm looking too. I need some transition lenses that I can wear night and day so I can read cue sheets at night. I've checked in to Denver Sport Optics but Rudy's Rydon with prescription lenses are north of 5 bills. OUCH.............

Rico - the Rydons are $300 at Sports RX with an additional $80 for the transitions option.

Ain't cheap, but better than $500+.

The Oakley Radar is amazing for riding. When I rode with Jawbones, I could always see the frame at the edge of my field of vision, which annoyed me. Also, my cheeks pushed them up my face if I smiled or grimaced as I rode. YMMV on that, but I really think that the Radar is superior for cycling.

If you want some do-alls, then check out Smith. There are one or two styles that are totally fine for off the bike wear, but they still have nice grippy nose/ear pieces.

I went with Smith Optics fly fishing sunglasses and get three uses: cycling, fishing, and regular street wear. Good selection of shapes and prices. And they will stop a high velocity weighted wooly bugger, so you know that your eyes are safe while cycling.

Super happy with my Smiths Piv-Lock on the bike, no fogging issues, and pleased off.

My preference is for Rudy Ekynox SX sunglasses with prescription lenses. They are not polarized and are very comfortable.
Polarized lenses should be avoided as they remove the glare of ice/water that is essential for safe riding (or skiing) on unpredictable surfaces.
Good luck with your shopping and let us know which ones you ultimately select.
