Yup. Been flat-bedded twice in the last 6 months after hitting road defects, once at highway speed and once at 25mph.
The standard 19” wheels that come on the Golf R are nothing but a PITA. Oh, and the car doesn’t come with a spare. I plan on replacing them with 17’s. Who cares if the sporty car looks like a truck.

I test-drove an A6 Allroad last fall. I loved it.

It had everything my wife wanted, too, except for a wayback seat.

I have always had a thing for classic Coachworks by Pininfarina of Torino. So, seeing this brightened today’s ride.

In Edinburgh, visiting the University with my kid. The wagon envy is strong, but my camera is drawn to the H vans.

That’s a very nice car. My brother-in-law overseas drives a Euro version of the A6 wagon, with a 2.2 liter turbo diesel. It’s such a nice way to drive and the diesel is barely noticeable. It is a bit unfortunate that they only bring the Allroad version to the US but at least it is nicely kitted with a V6 and air suspension, etc.

I’ve played around on the website with this car.

In the end my own next vehicle is likely an EV as I have a deposit on a Tesla Model Y Long Range to likely replace my VW Tiguan. Not nearly as nicely built as an Audi unfortunately but I think I’m ready for this leap for my daily driver.

Two from today's drive and ride...

I am not sure how one would fit an engine modded under the hood that would have the giddyyap to spin these wheels...

And, this blue one really reminded me of some long lost friends.

Back in Japan in the Mid-90's, these were the van of choice for my buddies who flew both hang and para. They'd drive to the ski resort in the spring/fall and camp in the parking lot overnight. A lot of memories with these old vans. They are also pretty popular with the ski bum culture in Japan.

This is a clip of Bravoski editor ski bumming in his Delica JB470 Camper Van. Don't know if these are even sold in US.

Yeah. Anything 1997 or earlier is fair game for import these days.

I’ve had happy feet on a new car lately. From an old Range Rover (third car) to replacing my wife’s VW wagon with a bronco. Depending on lead time, I think I’ve settled on a new AWD hybrid Sienna
Why deny the suburban dad I am for the next dozen years.

Once in a while I have the idea of purchasing a commercial tiny Piaggio truck (or an Ape). Then I come back to my sense and realize they drive like crap and it is a stupid idea unless I am working for the city to clean the streets.

A camperized Hyundai H1 4x4 would be objectively more usable and interesting

Rivian brought an R1T to my house last week so I could we could test drive it. So much fun. It was the first time I've ever driven an EV and doing a launch from 0-60 was incredible. Even the one pedal driving was easy to get used to in just a couple minutes.

    Agreed.

What's this "one pedal driving" thing? How do you coast? How do you tell the vehicle to stop?

And those infamous headlights - how do they look in person? (IMO in pictures they look like cartoon lights)
