With all the snow we've gotten, the plows can't keep up, and my '95 XJ Cherokee with four fresh studded snows is the highest performance vehicle on the road. Going, turning, braking, the whole package. This must be how the other half lives. Out of my way, little man!

So this followed me home yesterday. Anybody know what it is (no cheating if you already saw my fbook post)?

She should be a proper street-legal go kart once I'm finished...~8 years from now lol. No doubt I bit off more than I can chew but there's only one way to learn eh?!

P.S. Sorry for the terrible pic

I'd guess that's either a toyota starlet or a mazda 323. If you managed to get a 323gtx to follow you home....

Nice Work, It's a KP61 Starlet. So much potential there - rear wheel drive and only weighs 1750 pounds. Toss some ae86 suspension bits under it and throw in a 4age and it should be a real hoot.

Could you wedge a turbo supra drivetrain in there. That would show the Aston Martin dorks in Greenwich a thing or two.

Ha ha. Well there are quite a few 2jz powered Starlets built as drag cars...but for this build I'm after balance and want to focus on the suspension and keeping the weight out of it. ~180-200 hp will be plenty for a <1800 pound car imho.

aston martin dorks applaud a focus on suspension instead of overwhelming power. kudos, old chap.

Turbo 2jz would provide excellent balance as both the front and back wheels would be spending equal amounts of time leading the car. No fiddling with springs and shock valving needed.

Well it looks like the Starlet is moving on - I've gotten an offer I can't refuse, thing sorta fell into my lap anyway.

So on to the next project. I've really gotten excited about little late 80s hatchbacks. Would kill to get my hands on a good Peugeot 205 shell with a blown/missing motor. But those are impossible to find in the States so what else?

Golf would be the obvious choice there. I'm somewhat partial to a Toyota Corolla fx16. But those are pretty scarce.

Yeah I'm with you on a MK1 Rabbit/golf being the easy answer, my problem lies with my personal bent that Japan > Europe lol.

Plus a big part of me is still hoping that a 510 or ae86 falls into my lap...or just go buy a Miata and be done with it.

I have a line on a '64 Triumph TR4 that needs a lot of work due to sitting but could be had for next to nothing. Brake/clutch lines/master cyls, gas tank/fuel lines/pump, wheels/tires, carb rebuild, new shocks etc, not to mention body, paint, interior work. Also it's positive ground. But the Michelotti body calls to me. Am I insane?

Been reading Doug Demuro's GTR import blog and it has me wanting a Kei car with a 660cc turbo swap.

Our Honda Fit isn't opposite enough of the UZJ100 for me to be satisfied, I guess.
