Porsche readily admit that the Cayanne and Panamera exist so they can continue to make 911s without selling out to VW completely.

That's ok - my situation is not the norm. Honestly I'll give it another shot (the chassis is great and you can't see the exterior design while you are driving it so....) - but the Tesla "drivetrain" is just so far advanced beyond anything else it's really a hard act to follow.

Thank you for not saying "Porsche readily admits..."

buddy of mine traded me an aston martin vantage v8 for the m3 for the weekend

    - it's not as quick
    - it's not as well balanced
    - it's sexy as hell, inside and out
    - it has a heavy supercar sort of feel to the clutch and the steering
    - the noise, ohhh that noise

bottom line: very good car, not great at all, but so goddamn beautiful i'm not sure i care

Curious to your buddy's review of the M3.

i can save him and me the time:

it's fantastic, bordering on sublime even in the watered down convertible form. unfortunately, it's also a little generic / soulless, which is how you get such unbelievable engineering excellence at that price point - volume, baby, production volume. so it's just short of amazing, but only just. #madone?

My bro-in-law had one in sedan form. This is pretty much spot on with my assessment. This is silly, but the only thing keeping it from being amazing was the other 3 in his neighborhood. But what a beast to drive.

Six grand? That's like a decent down payment on a BR-Z.

Further evidence BMW has lost their way:

^ugh i know. the cherokee's and ford eescape's backends are identical

dumb question for yall. do you drive your cars until they implode? or buy another used one when there's still money to be gotten for your current whip.
ive got a 05 ford escape with 158k mi, could probably get $4500, just put $620 into it via tie rod and wheel bearing; goal is for a retired company car forester from my dad's company for about $14.5k w/65k mi

I think some cars lend themselves to being driven into the ground more than others - the more beat down they are the cooler they are. If the Escape is really still worth that I'd take the money now.
