I spotted these two gems in the “clinic” for cosmetic surgery, while picking up Mrs. RW’s car from its latest bout with a deer...she’s 3-0.

I usually like a 964 until my eyes get to the wheels. I'd want to switch to Fuchs or even BBS.

Spotted just now about a mile from my house. I humiliated him off the line in my Tiguan but he was able to get past me when my barn-like CUV couldn't push the air out of way as well, around 180 MPH or so.

Yes no problem at all to fit in. I much prefer the look of the 964. My son is pushing for a cabriolet. Which after careful consideration could be nice for an old car.

That wing looks like a good spot to set a few coffee cups and 1/2 dozen donuts once you’re at the track.

I’ve driven a GT3RS on the track. It’s simply incredible.

Lionel, do I recall you drove an exotic car or two on track in Las Vegas? What did you think of it? The whole experience, I mean. Last December I saw a Ferrari parked on the strip with a track day ad in the window, but didn’t investigate.

Riding your own car once in a while on a track is fine. Doing it on a regular basis can be a real money pit as parts starts wearing waaaay faster. Add to that the risk of sending your daily driver in a gravel pit.

I tried once driving an old single seater. It was a french thing similar to a formula ford / formula V. It was a real hoot to drive, is rather inexpensive to maintain according to the owner as it using engine, transmission and brakes from a production car. Yet it was still crazy fast with real slick tires, or at least felt like it from being so light and so low. If I had a racetrack nearby I think I'd rather seek for a trailer and one of those rather than trying to track a street car, as fast as it may be.

I drove a GT3RS and a Ferrari 488. It was fun but you are not driving a whole lot (10 laps total in 2 cars for me for something like $600). It's interesting to do if you are thinking of buying a car like that. I thought the GT3RS was head and shoulders above the 488 from a driving point of view.

Thanks—sounds like I thought it would.

The 488 they parked on the strip wasn’t the best advertisement. The tires looked under inflated, which caused me to wonder about its maintenance in general and didn’t fill me with the urge to take it into a corner at speed.

Wouldn’t the 488 Pista be the track equivalent to the GT3RS? The standard 488 would be to street oriented where the GT3RS is more track oriented.

Right but I do not think they had a Pista.

I am knee deep into trying to find a nice 964 right now. Slow by fun.

If I was in a place to consider a track car, I'd be looking at something like a Caterham or a hot hatch. I have lots to learn about driving before I could even think about saddling up a supercar.

Shifter Karts, makes a Caterham look like SUV.

    Cheap, loud, slide really well.
    Mostly not terrifying.
