Probably good that it is not available in the US, lest I be tempted. Sticking with the Honda Fit for now!

Not fast enough to let the clutch fully out but too fast to just coast.
Mrs has a (non GTi) Golf with DSG. Crawling in heavy traffic confuses the DSG transmission. Frequently in the wrong gear and clunky shifting between 1st and 2nd.
A traditional slush-box auto is far better for these conditions.

    Diesel? In Europe?

The 6-speed (w/torque converter) autos in our last two MK VII Golfs (in the USofA) have been tuned to shift remarkably similar to the DSG. Especially at low speed.

Mk VI 1.4 TFSI "Twincharger" engine in Australia.

I have to say, other that the low speed recalcitrance, (and the well documented DSG reliability issues) it's a nice power train.

Lionel...that is essentially the same setup I would get if available domestically.
Congratulations on the sweet new Audi station wagon. Very nice, indeed.

Not sure if the S5 sportback is available in the US but this is another good choice.

My only concern is one can *feel* they are hankering to do a complete SQ5 body redesign.
That vehicle has been around for quite a time and pencils/clay are likely being readied. ;-)

The Q5 and SQ5 in showrooms today is a brand new vehicle for 2018. I've been looking at it WAY too much. It's "reasonably" affordable and has a lot of features standard. I'm hoping to take one for a test drive next week, in regular Q5 form.

This must be the first time I read affordable and an Audi model in the same sentence.

That's why I used the term "reasonably". It's not a cheap car but compared to something in the same size class and optioned up to a high level, it's not as crazy as I thought it would be.

But yeah, calling an Audi "affordable" does take some liberty with the word.

About as bare bones as you can find a Cayman S. Needless to say it's a lot of fun.
    -manual transmission
-manual sport seats (well, only 2-way power)
    -sport chrono
    -sport exhaust
