Over a long term ownership I am coming to appreciate that driving slower sports cars fast might be more fun than driving over powered cars .

Yeah maybe. But this thing must be freaking awesome and not over powered either. 500hp, 6sp manual, 4.0 NA engine and no wing. I am not getting one (and even if I wanted to probably could not with the non sense allocation crap in the US) but this looks great. Could not see myself driving a GT3 on the streets with that big wing, this looks dorky.

my mom had a vw beetle back in the day, pre-gt6267a. my dad always said it was as much or more fun to drive than his Porsche. why? same reason, you could floor it through all the gears and act like a bat out of hell around corners without breaking the speed limit :). speed does not always = more fun.

Incredibly cool as they are, the GT3s are absolutely ridiculous road cars. My 2004 was far far too much car for the street and it had about 100 hp less than the GT3 touring. Most of the people I know who had them had some sort of mishap because they are a handful. I liked mine best on the racetrack with R compound tires. BTW, the wing is functional over 100 mph, which you are pretty much guaranteed to hit just about every time to drive the car.

I also can't believe Porsche did away with the dry sump motor on the modern GTs. Those motors were direct descendants of the racing motors that have won more endurance races than any motor in history and were one of the features that made the GTs so special. They were the centerpiece of Porsche's legendary durability and driving dynamics. I used to redline my car on the track for 30 minute sessions and it would always settle down immediately and purr as soon as I pulled off without consuming a drop of oil.

With all that said, I wouldn't throw one out of my garage. But you should be aware of want you are in for if you are seriously considering buying one.

The daihatsu 3 cylinder engineed Caterham is the slowest of the catalog but I've heard it is one of the most enjoyable one to drive despite the lack of proper performance with its tiny wheels. Same applies to the Morgan ThreeWheeler.



Despite of that once you have one you still want a more powerful car. We're just made like that.

We rented a Seat Alhambra (VW Sharan) in Ireland. Manual, diesel and seats seven. Basically a pint sized minivan. Too small to replace our Sienna but it'd be a way more useful second car for our family than our Sportwagen, at not much bigger of a footprint.

A 68. They are asking 10,000 CAD which is 1500 CAD in 1968 dollars.

I didn't get a chance to talk to the mechanic about what has been done to the mechanicals but the interior is mint, like totally redone to original factory fresh.

And, I love what Joe did with his new old VW.

We get a lot of snow here but I remember the old ad (from before my time) of "did you ever wonder how the snow plow driver gets to the snow plow?".

I am thinking it could stay in storage for the bad months.

It totally messed up the rest of my ride because I couldn't get these thoughts out of my mind. Not as cool as an old Shelby but could be fun in a different kind of way...
