After 17 years finally went the new vehicle route. Went for the limited model. A lot of tech we'll likely not use, but so comfortable. Looking to add a topper. Also a 1up 4 spot hitch rack.

Let the games begin. If you're into vintage cars and not too far away, the PVGP (Pittsburgh Vintage Gran Prix) is celebrating their 35th year and there are tons of events taking place over the next 10 days. The racing at Schenley Park (between PITT and Carnegie Mellon) draws the most attention, but the racing at Beaver Run is where the hardcore folks go to play.

Nice AEV Ram. Those are pretty cool. Interesting to see a late gen Tacoma bed trailer. Must be from a wrecked truck.

Just another day at the park with Mrs. RW...Schenley Park for the 35th running of the Pittsburgh Vintage Gran Prix. Thank goodness I have kids in college or I'd be a very poor (albeit happy) man. 500 British cars alone are exhibited and every make and model that has ever driven the planet is there. All the while I was drooling, the races were taking place in the background...vintage cars only. If you haven't attended and you are a car nut, I can't recommended the event enough. I included a photo of an old Raleigh that I spotted so that I could maintain a bike focused post.

Here are a few videos posted from the Pittsburgh Vintage Gran Prix website that some might find to be interesting. For next year, the marquis car is the BMW 2002. Watch the first video if you want to get pumped about grassroots racing.

This thing has been calling my name, I stopped and checked it out again today.

It is so cherry, no rust, the bed doesn't have a ding in it... But it has the AMC v6, which is kind of a dog.

Then we quickly pulled over cause we saw this 69 Beetle. $5k or obo and no rust.

I nearly bought that same truck straight out of college. They have the best bench seats ever. FWIIW if you get if for the right price a Chevy engine will snug right in.

Buy both, and sell whichever one you love less in a year. You probably won't lose any $$$.

I'm leaning VW. I spoke to the owner, she dropped in a 1600cc rebuilt engine 500 miles ago, tons of new parts, new carpet , etc. I might test drive it tomorrow and throw a low ball offer.

Pull the carpets/liners up. It's got rust. I love those cars and boy can they go in snow.

Joe...advice given to me many years ago by a neighbor who owned a number of vintage cars. Always go for the convertible as they appreciate on a more consistent scale as they were manufactured in more limited numbers. This from a man who owned a '65 Mustang, '57 Thunderbird, '29 Pierce Arrow, '39 Lincoln, '61 Corvette and many other convertibles and roadsters...back in the early '80's his daily driver was an '70 Olds Cutlass convertible. Sadly, his kids sold every one of them when he passed away.

I passed on it... Although I think I should start just buying cars in the desert, driving them to Boulder to flip for a profit. Man the prices are low out there! I could double the asking on the Honcho.

I figured I should finish up a current project (dissertation) before I pick up any more projects!

I have not been able to stop thinking of the beetle... after way too much talking about it I made the beetle owner an offer. She accepted, now own a 69 beetle. It will have to wait until I go to moab again to pick it up though.
