And this is why wagons don't stick around here. The people that want them seem to only ever want them in manual form. Small sliver of the body style market + small sliver of the transmission market = effectively no market to sell these things into.

My wagon is a 6-speed manual. I'm going to sell it for millions of dollars, probably to a vsalon member.

"I don't want the extra plastic or the ground clearance; just give me the AWD, tdi and 6sp manual."

Agreed. I drive a 2013 R, because the brakes are amazing, it's a stick 4by, and it does not scream to be looked at. So far, 45K, it's been reliable, and gas is a bargain.

There was an All-Road up the road the other day. That thing makes my heart flutter a little bit. That's what I really wanted when I got my Subaru, but a mechanic friend told me to avoid unless I was getting a super duper deal or new.

I know the old A6-sized allroads have a pretty atrocious reliability reputation. I thought the newer A4-based models were a different thing altogether, but I admit to not researching it much.

It's tough to put your money where your mouth is when:
    1) There are so few of what you want on the market.
    2) You only buy a new car every 10-12 years or so.

We're likely to hang on to the WRX for longer than that since the current iteration isn't available as a manual wagon. I told SWMBO to wait a few years to see if customer backlash creates more options on the new car market. Or get an early 90s 911 C4 with rocket box. She then tells me to stop suggesting cars for her to buy that I want to drive.

How do you know how many miles mine has? Have you been driving it South Florida while I'm gone?

Touche. We're almost at 6yrs, and just passed 44K, so just making assumptions.

I think I'm at 29K, 4 years old. Gets a ton of miles driving 10 minutes away to drop off the kids at school, then to soccer practice, then to chipotle. I need to get a cool roof coffin like yours has. Wonder if I could cut a hole in the top and let my dog ride up there.

Bring it to Ballers next year. That car wants to stretch its legs a bit.
"As an homage to the EPOdays of yore- I'd find the world's last remaining pair of 40cm ergonomic drop bars.....i think everyone who ever liked those handlebars in that shape and in that width is either dead of a drug overdose, works in the Schaerbeek mattress factory now and weighs 300 pounds or is Dr. Davey Bruylandts...who for all I know is doing both of those things." - Jerk

My brother-in-law (a loyal 2002 Audi S4 Sportwagen owner) says, "When you go from a VW to an Audi, the repair shop becomes an 'Everything is $1000' store."

BTW, my TDI is a 2002 and it has 147,000 miles.
