Well, no front brake usually. But you'll have a rear and all that engine braking. So it's plenty to work with. Speaking of flat trackers...

Dunno if you guys are aware but the once defunct norton are now back in buisness

Admittedly the old norton factory now makes engines for UAV's but from what i hear the wankel is going back in a motorcycle

the once defunct norton are now back in business

Depends on your definition of "in business". If you mean, taking deposits, demanding more money and not delivering motorcycles then, yes, they are back in business.

is this "gospel" or "internet consensus" I dont follow the motorbike world I just know a few guys who do the design circuit consultancy between Triumph Vepro and Norton and thats where i heard Norton were back on the scene.

It wouldn't surprise me if this was the case as it seems with these heritage brands in the UK this is how buisness gets done.

I know of at least one car maker who works along similar lines and has had customers waiting for two years to get a car (that they call pay staged payments for) having seen the way that company operates its obvious the payments are keep the company afloat payments and do a bit on the car.

Well, perhaps I should temper my comments. I've read on various message boards and such about folks that put down deposits, delivery dates were announced and then missed, demands for additional cash, no delivery of the bike. Etc etc. Shame really as I read early on that they were well financed and there was a lot of "this time it's different" talk. There was a documentary on TV about the whole brand and I got really excited. Perhaps they will get through this and it will be a viable marque once again.

I've always been a fan of XS650's...I've owned a few old Yamaha's in the past.
The last one was a sexy cafe racer...I'll try to dig up some pics.
I've also build BSA's and Triumphs.
The next bike is looking like a Triumph Thruxton...looks old, but no wrenching. ;)

I also built a 1940 M20 SV, a '51 B33, and started a '25 flat tank model before I moved back into moto-crossing, and took a break from building.

The last XS that I owned:
Fun machines...as long as you don't push them in the corners too much!
Even with new updated poly swingarm bushings, they tend to 'FISH' around corners at any type of race speeds.

These terms are used to define professions that today have very porous boundaries. Often an architect also builds. A designer often fabricates. These hybrids occur most frequently when scale is small; where one person must wear many hats, confounding definition even further.

Instead of using titles to understand what someone does, it might be more useful to look at their process.

Process in this context is a map of where one has been. By looking at it, we perceive a way of thinking, a mode of operation tailored by necessity.

This show gathers an array of physical artifacts, which are marks on such a map.

it is the same system that was used to get Indian back in business, take money, need more get more and then... in the case of indian, make an unimpressive product.
