Re: Friday PicFest No.90
#2, a 650b wheeled path bomber/grocery getter with sloping top tube. 73 parallel, 57cm virtual top/seat tube, 68mm BB drop, 420mm chainstay length. If I don't like 650b, it will take 700c without any real compromises. Currently I'm my own best customer until I feel confident enough with my work (especially the brazing) to build frames for money.
Seat lug,
Upper head lug, still have cleanup to do. I still braze like old people screw.
Lower head lug, a bit better than the upper.
BB, still need to sand out the casting pockmarks, which is a pain in the ass. I'm thinking all that cruft will just disappear under a decent paint job...
Rear of the seat lug, started out as a Llewelyn that I cut and filed the crap out of.
Pacenti P-B fork crown.
Chainstays with dropouts.
Reflections on my second frame:
* I'm getting pretty good at filework and hand mitering.
* My brazing technique still needs a lot of work.
* I've found no better way to clear my mind than to sit and file/abrade a lug or a joint that needs work. It's very cathartic.
* I feel good about my work because I realize that all of you were once where I am today, and time and experience will make me a better, smarter, more artful builder.
Thanks,
Pete
