1/4" x .020" stainless works great. I can't remember where I got it though. I thought it would've been Spruce, but it's not listed on the site.

Is the thin wall brass sensitive to brazing, i.e. if I were to hit it with some 35% silver, what's the likely hood of an ooops? Thanks Tim-Chris

Better to be ruined than to be silent atmo.

you should assemble more frames before you start drilling holes in the top tubes you are using now atmo.

I wouldn't use 35% silver. 56% is more the norm and would work. With that said, I prefer to use 1/4" OD x .02" 304 seamless stainless tubing. Fits the cable housing better and holds up better.

I found some stainless tubing at a couple places but they wanted minimum orders that put me near 150.00. I'm just experimenting right now so I'm looking for it on the cheap or in a short length. When I start to offer it, I LOVE STAINLESS STEEL!!! Except when I'm using a stainless on stainless nut bolt combos, that can suck. Many thanks Curt!-Chris

Order Stainless 304 Tube in Small Quantities at OnlineMetals.com

There are some good choices for stainless. You can order as little as a foot, if you so desire. I'm not an internal routing guy, but I've used 1/4 x.028" for under the bb cable guides on a couple of frames. Check your local hardware stores, too. I've found that the little mom and pop Ace in the neighborhood has an amazing assortment of stuff I need, and they're local. (and across the street from the bike shop)

McMaster is cheaper and they are happy to fill small orders. I'd bet they would lose half their clientèle if they started being whiny about taking small orders.

Yeah, McMC has some good stuff as well. It's usually a good go to place for almost anything.

mcmaster is great. .25" x .020 wall stainless, annealed. you can give it just a slight bend with your hands. put length of housing in first. 5mm housing fits perfectly.
