    Yeah, I think the straight blade fork looks great. That's a great looking bike, with the exception of those shag nasty cranks. That's just my opinion though.

    I agree. I would have went with bar-cons + a WI VBC crank, personally......She knew what she wanted, it's designed for "D2R2" {SP?} in VT. - Garro.

    Howdy all - just some news/FYI here. I'm moving ALL my framebuilding commentary over to www.framebuilderscollective.org and it will be the ONLY place online I will comment on frame construction techniques.
    It is easy to spread yourself too thin on the WWW and I think this will help me out.
    I'm going to finish up the frame I'm working on & then another 700c & then I am going to do a step-by-step photo powerpoint of "how to build a fillet brazed MTB" for the FBC.
    I'll still reply to "Smoked Out" questions, add to the general buzz, throw out mechanic awnsers & just generally stick around to irritate you all, but I think the FBC is the place for my F'building 1's & 0's.

    I don't think this has been asked and I've been wondering about it for some time. Why do you do your seat stays the way you do?

    You must mean the MTB ones as all my road-ish bikes have straight ones.
    I do it to "tune" the ride - smaller riders get lighter units, heavy riders or tourbikes with discs heavier..........like an old Bontrager MTB but curved.
    But basically I think it is just a Sysyphean task self-assigned. They add tons of work, but when you see a Coconino, you know it's a Coconino.
    I have worked long & hard to be a known quantity & I know that in the world of "new and improved" and "model year" this may seem an idea beyond it's time, but I feel it is not.
    It took years to find my look & the associated ride quality and I'm sticking with it.
    All my socks match & have for 25+yrs {wigwam rag wool, Grey, XL}
    If you deal with me you know what to expect - Steve Garro.

    Thanks, RD! I appreciate the kind words regarding my work - thanks.
    I am amazed how much where I live has saturated into me, I could not live anywhere else.

    Don't want to get any where near you. Too dangerous! Didn't you just break your finger a couple of months ago?
