Wow, this is pretty slick! Our office will be moving soon in CA far enough to where I stay that it could make sense to start thinking about a commuter

Too good to be locked outside the office!

Ha! At the end of the day, it's a bike. Ride the heck out of it and enjoy! i love getting notes from friends or clients when they see another Winter on the road or locked up by the shops.

Do it! It might surprise you what these Winter commuters can do, performance-wise.

I know you went with drop bars but this flat bar seems like a pretty good commuting option. Even though thinking about it, if I was to go for something like this I would probably go drop bars as well.

This one will get taken in to the office, but no bike is too precious to be locked up outside. I'll be sure to put up a picture from a run to the market.

The flat bars were Eric's expert suggestion. I'm more of a lots-of-drop kind of person (My gaulzetti is a 55), but after the last time I was hit by a car, my broken clavicle never healed, even after surgery to plate it. I used to commute to work a couple days a week, but I can't ride with a backpack anymore. This is the most overkill solution to the problem, but should be a big plus as far as comfort goes. I wasn't sold on the idea at first, but I think he will be right that the flat bars with lots of sweep will be the ticket.

Perhaps is from being in London, where anything worth more than £50 gets stolen. You really need proper motorcycle locks here. In fact, my "everyday" bike although is not very expensive is very dear to me and I lock it carefully AND with two solid D-Locks. Have to find a quick solution for the handlebars/shifters/stem: they're not afraid to cut the cables and steal the whole front end (including forks and headset), damn bastards!

That bike up there is too pretty for being just an "everyday"

Bikes are meant to be used. Good bikes get used often.

I have been experiencing some inconsistent email delays for a bit. If you have sent me an email that has gone unanswered, please resend to: eric AT winterbicycles dot com. I'm doing my best to work through a cache of missed connections now, but again, please hit me again (or call) if you are waiting to hear from me. Thank you, and my apologies for any delays.
