    Edoz--

Nice to read about you and where you have been and the path to follow.
I will be racing at Tulsa Tough and would enjoy meeting you if you are around. Love the vibe down there.

    My question-
Have you reached into the local racing community?
    (follow up)
If you have, how did you select the riders you approached? If not, do you not want the feedback just yet?

    Thanks!

you need "stops." it made my S-stay expierence{s} much better. insert SS, pull until the arm hits the stop.......i'll put a pic in "simple tools" later this week when i use it. what the heck is your name? where do you live? - Garro.

I'll steal this one for a sec. He is Eric from Tulsa. Turns out to be a friend of a friend.
E- I'm guessing Jason is still your friend.

Eric, do you have an online presence through a site, blog, photoset, or something? Or did I miss it somehow. How can we find you and follow along with your growth? If you're going to be selling these things, we need to get that part up to speed. It would be nice to watch.

Yeah, I'm in with the racing community kinda by default. I've done some mtb racing here in Oklahoma and Arkansas for a few years, and people started getting in line when I was building my first one. When I was ready to let one go out, I thought about who I knew that could give me the feedback that I needed. People with a lot of riding on a lot of different bikes, who knew what they liked and could describe different characteristics in understandable terms. Guys (and a girl) who were going to know if I got the fit or the handling right or wrong, and be able (and honest enough) to tell me what was wrong with it.

Definitely look me up when you're here at the Tulsa Tough. In fact, if you race the Sunday crit you'll pass my house about a hundred times;) Look for a green Dodge Dart in a driveway right before you go down the fast hill with the hard right turn to the start/finish.

Yeah, I have a couple of ideas in my head about stops. I'm not sure how my bending setup is going to turn out though, I've got 2 or 3 ideas in my head fighting for space. I'm kinda terrible about that. I like your press style setup a lot, although I'm not sure how I'd make the dies.

Btw, I parked my bike next to Denise's at the handbuilt show at SSWC09. I talked to her for a few minutes and she's really nice. She probably told you how bad the light was in that basement, and I brought a black and dark gray bike. It made hers stand out even better, lol.

Thanks for visiting my humble thread, Steve.

Yeah, I have a blog. I guess that would be a good thing to post, eh?

There's a couple of interesting mistakes if you go back a ways, and a ghetto fabulous "lathe as mill" experiment. I've tried to stash my pride and show my screw ups, I figure at least they're entertaining and at most someone else might see it before they do the same thing. You'll also see my one foray into painting, which turned out pretty good because I used the paint booth at work and had really good help. It was fun, but I can't see doing much more of it. You're way better at it than I, so keep it up.

Yeah Wade, Jason's a friend. Occasionally I shake my head and wonder why, but he's a friend;)

I just paid my deposit for a booth at the Texas Custom Bicycles Show in October. I guess it's pretty much going to be a pre-NAHBS, and I'll be able to get some much appreciated feedback from the masses. Pray for my soul, or something.

Hey Erik, I'm signed up for the Texas Custom Bicycle Show in Austin Oct 16-17th. NAHBS will have to wait until I have a few more bikes built and am ready for real customers. It's a shame, Austin is so close. I'm still going though, and you should too.

Bring that Sachs by when you get it. Seeing the picture set was pretty cool, knowing I'll see it in person.

2010 Texas Custom Bicycle Show: Featured Builder of the Week: Eric Doswell of Edoz Bicycles

Featured this week on the Texas Custom Bicycles Show blog. It looks like I'm in some pretty good company. I'm the only Okie in the show, I hope they take it easy on me.

YES!!!! Wait till you see the pics of the 29er I just finished welding. It's simple but has a strong NASCAR vibe! I do love the old muscle. As for the welder, I love my Dynasty but my torches have been calling my name the loudest lately. When you say you hate brass is that the filing part? I couldn't imagine trying to file my brass fillets around the BB Cluster. TIG please! Also, referring to your least favorite build, do you know why or at what phase in your process things went wrong? -Chris

I have really made peace with the fillet finishing, and I seem to be fortunate in that the bb always turns out better than other joints when I braze. Plus, it all gets better each time. As for the mistake, I know exactly what I did. I had the front triangle and chainstays built and was adding a wishbone seatstay setup that was a tad shorter on one side and I took for granted the wishbone was right and adjusted the stays to fit.
That was a early frame, and it really made me develop an alignment process. It's not too bad, it rides good and most people don't notice even if I point it out. I see it though, so I'm about to start it's replacement.
I'll post up some pics from the Tx show next week.

    Hi Eric,
Enjoyed talking to you at the show in Austin and seeing your work. I'm definitely glad I stopped by the outdoor location on the 2nd day and was able to see the bikes in better lighting. With the show behind you, are you glad you went? What part of the show do you feel will be the biggest benefit for Edoz?

    Thanks,

    Kyle

    Hey, Kyle
It was cool meeting you, and I'm glad you came out. I think the biggest benefit for me was meeting all the other builders and seeing people's reaction to my stuff, especially the raw frame. I see all the tiny imperfections and I was pretty nervous about showing it, but everyone else really liked it. Even other builders were impressed, so it was a good bolster for my confidence. I met some cool guys who will hopefully become good friends and I even got a Daltex tshirt:)
Thanks again for coming out and stopping by my booth.

I've seriously slacked off maintaining this thread. It's a shame, especially after being handed the opportunity help expose my work to the masses. This is what's going on at headquarters today. I'm building myself one of those 'because I can' frames. It's a cross bike with 1.9" tire clearance and an integrated seatpost. I'm also getting ready to start a frame or two for Big Pig Racing down in Texas. They have some big, hard riding guys and that will be great for durability testing.
