I made this at a shop where I worked. They made these 72" tall cabinets for railroad trucks, and they had a shell that was 1/2" out of square coming off the brake. So I snagged it, cut it in half and used the drop to make the top and bottom of this box. I had the sheet metal dept make the drawers made out of 304, and I welded everything up. I even sent it down to their paint shop for some Schlumberger blue. (We did lots of oil industry work, too)

Nice, I like it a lot! Is the frame made out fo sheet or it it box tubing with a infill panel? What did you end up using for slides?

The shell is all 10ga steel, the lips around the sides and top are bent into the sheet metal. The center post between the drawers and the door is a piece of square tube with a 10ga divider running to the back wall. I wouldn't have made it like this from scratch, but the shell was headed to the dumpster so I jumped on it. That's 500lbs of box there, literally. Empty.
The slide hardware is roller stuff that we had in shop stock, the drawers don't slide out as far as I'd like them too, but they were free, and halfway is good enough. I screwed up a couple of handles getting the holes drilled straight, but they turned out good. My boss wanted to choke me every time he saw me working on that thing.
