Just got out for some 3-4 footers with the occasional 5' wave yesterday. Had some really great noserides and ducked under the lip on one of the bigger waves to move through all day. Your boards are beautiful.

This was a collaborative effort. I shaped a 9'4" spoon 1/4" thinner all the way around. Then Raphael Wolfe from Timberline vacuum-bagged a 1/8" thick Paulownia skin. I went back and turned the rails by hand. It's light and very strong.

I would see George in the water from time to time when he was in California either riding an air mattress or sailing one of his custom sailboards. He did stop in my surf shop a few times in the mid-1990's but it was to speak with Paul Gross, one of his close friends who happened to work at the shop during that time. Paul worked with George an many different projects I learned much of what I know about shaping surfboards from Paul. When Paul sold me his surfboard templates in 2001, one of them was for George's Velo kneeboard.

Score on the velo templates--looks like a labor intensive build, and really difficult to tune the lay up for flex. I was a kneeboarder for about a year in the early-early '70s, but gave it up for surfboards. It was clear nobody was going to come out with something like the velo, and of course I'd been influenced by his films and photos.
