if scratched watches bug you, you may want to re-think a ti watch. they show scratches like a mofo.

I'm fine with it on case, just not the crystal. But, Citizen uses some proprietary coating that's supposed to be really scratch resistant, and gets great reviews.

Atomic signal sync in the US is at risk of being de-funded and mothballed. Something to consider if you're paying for what's ultimately a useless feature.

Yeah, it's a bonus, not a requirement. Supposedly it was going away at the beginning of the year due to budget cuts, but it's still going. This watch doesn't get it anyways, only the Japanese signal, in Japan. But these Eco Drive movements are so good it doesn't really matter, my current one is only off somewhere in the 1 to 2 second range every month.

I also like the look of the Promaster Tough, which is a US market watch, but it doesn't have the perpetual calendar, the date window is tiny, and I prefer the numerals vs indices. It's also steel vs titanium.

I wish Citizen would offer a simple looking watch in the US with a perpetual calendar. All their US offerings have way too much stuff on dial for my tastes, like this guy. This is the simplest looking of the US-market offerings, but it's only 50m water resistance, and I'm not sure how well it would work with a NATO strap since the lugs look fairly short. This one is also close, but mineral crystal, and more crap on the dial than I prefer.

Big soft spot for Doxas. How does it wear? I would love to find a nice Searambler or Professional.

it wears very well. i typically like a thinner 40mm traditional round dive watch, but this is not as big as the specs may indicate. the 1200 series are very manageable i think. it's a comfortable watch that can take a beating.

i hear ya.

this is my true beater watch. i ride with it pretty often too. i prefer 2-piece nato straps, as they keep the watch at a lower profile on the wrist than a true nato.

Most often water depth rating is listed as "ATMOS" which is not the plural of "ATMO". It has a 5 ATMOS (50 Meter) water depth rating which is fine as a GMT (and not a diver) watch. If they changed to a screw down crown, they could probably get to at least 100 ATMOS rating but I am not a watchmaker so do not take my word for it.

It is a nice design and I am glad they did the GMT complication. RGM may be modifying the ETA movement in some way or using a higher quality version of it but there is no information in the blog post to that effect as it simply states "Automatic ETA 2893 GMT movement". Using an ETA can also be seen as a bonus because it means that almost any quality watchmaker can service it.

All in all, a very good design.

Did it. Like it. Have some straps ordered for it.

Titanium, sapphire, solar powered quartz, perpetual calendar. Will test the radio sync / app later. Ordered from Japan on Thursday morning, had it in my hands a week later. USPS tracking was still showing it in NY when it showed up at my desk haha. Showed up with the calendar already set up, which is nice. Granted, it was set to Japan time so I had to roll it back 13hrs, but the month and year are correct which is nice.

It's just a bit larger than my current watch (on the left), which is good.



Anyone here know Japanese and can tell me what this is? It's in, what I can only assume to be, the warranty registration card...which is in Japanese except for the sentence "THIS GUARANTEE IS ONLY VALID IN JAPAN"

At first I thought it was the date of manufacturer...but it's two days in the future, so I'm not sure what it is now.
