Both awesome choices, but both come at a much higher price. I don't think you can find either for less than $3K used.

    Wrists, uh, dainty.
Suits are boxy shoulders and slim-ish fit, so british.

I like this for a casual watch. I think for a first watch, I'll probably get something that I can wear during the both the day and evening.

I ask my watchmaker friend to whip something together... IF I can afford him.

Chasea - Hard to beat this watch for what you are describing - casual, small wrists, brit suits. I keep clicking on your link myself. Hmm. And I freely admit that it was kind of a foppish thing for me to say - euro watches with euro suits. But hey, I'm funny like that. I don't like euro shoes with American sack suits, either.

Cody - You're right, the used Panerai are probably out of this price range, but the IWC's are there at sub-$2k. The big watch movement has created a buyers market for those of us with smaller, uh, "dainty" wrists. I have a 6.6 in wrist, so I'm digging the watches in the 36-39mm range. For example, you can find good deals on the Mark XVI and the old Explorer I. Here is one for example:

WatchNet: Trading Post: FS: IWC MARK XVI ($1895)

For anyone looking for a decent used Speedmaster Pro, this is what you're up against:

Omega Speedmaster Professional "Moon" Watch - 3570.50 | eBay

$1825 for a watch that needs immediate attention. Not sure how serious the problem is, but it's not minor. And this isn't some collector's model, this is just a run of the mill "modern" Speedmaster. A Speedy is on my shortlist (along with an IWC Mark XVI, and a couple others). The premium for a new one doesn't look bad when you see these auction results.

watchrecon is another good resource. I like it better than EDS, as you can cull results by brand (without having to use keywords) and, in addition to a picture, shows the price of the listing without having to look at the listing.

I have owned dozens of fine watches, and none have held up as well as my Omega Seamaster America's Cup. Aside from the 18kt WG bezel and some fancy engraving, it is all standard automatic Seamaster. I have had multiple models of Rolex, IWC, Tag, Omega, etc. I really believe that for an everyday watch, a Seamaster is tough to beat.

Very nice watch Dustin. If you want an America's Cup Limited Edition Seamaster to go with it, let me know.

Nice one Dustin! I like that and I'm sure it will withstand much abuse.
