    Default Hockey skates

Anyone into hockey or skating using hockey skates? I need a new pair and plan to spend around $400 or so (thanks to Christmas monies!).

    What's recommended?

I skated in CCM Super Tacks for decades. Discontinued now. Take a look at CCM U+12 skates. They list for $500 but if you search they can be had around $400. Sure you need that much skate?

Sure, just as all of us need that much bike. And while I'm on a 2010 Spectrum, I'm still skating on my 1991 CCM 650s.

Bauer Supreme 4000s. Oldies but goodies. No carbon or Ti though.

I had some carbon CCMs (Tacks 952 or something like that) about 10 years ago or so. They were way too stiff for me.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards this model. They have a slightly larger toe box which will accommodate my broken toes more adequately. Yes, I need this much skate as I plan not to have to buy another pair in my lifetime and, like my Crumpton, I want something that will be durable and well-built.

Bauer XXV basically the same boot as their XX (which was the skate for years) but half as much as their 'higher' models. Fantastic boot. Loose the crappy steel that comes with is and get a decent ls2 set.

did I say +1 for the bauer XXV?

3wfab - that video is priceless - recommended to all the 40 somethings like myself that think they still "have it" on the ice.
