    That immediately is an object of desire. Not so specifically for what it is but what it represents. The never ending desire to create the near perfect object. The embodied skill and know how. There are very few objects left in this world that, in my opinion, carry that sort of certain....... je nais se quoi.

    RS aluded to this passing down to desciples last week in his blog. How it's distilled by modern fashion and the lack of apprentice positions.

    As others have said, quite awesome! I remember watching a video on youtube about a master swordsmith in Japan and it showed the entire process he went through. It was incredible how much attention to detail was present and all performed with fairly simple tools. Just watching the steel being folded over and over was mesmerizing. I tried to find the video on youtube again, and couldn't find the exact one I was looking for, through there are quite a couple on youtube about swordmaking.
