Florida vacation…..but not just Disney/Universal.

But I (by that I mean my wife and I) really need your help
We've been saving for five years for this holiday
A week in Florida a couple of days with Mickey and that
The rest of the time just chilling out
Is it possible to do this in one location?
We can't stretch to doing the Parks then going to the Keys

Any help/recommendations greatly received.

We're going in October so any nearby Cross races would also suit….

Sorry about the minimal bike content but a combination of desperation and knowing how helpful and knowledgeable salonistas are, made me take a shot!

Daytona/Cocoa Beach/Treasure Coast etc etc are only a couple hours away. Won't need to go all the way to the Keys if you're looking for a beach fix.

Siesta Key is a little over 2 hours from Orlando and one of the best chill beaches in the state. Or head to Cocoa, as flash mentions, for a shorter drive and still a good beach spot.

The cross schedule isn't up yet since our season just finished yesterday?

I agree with Matt, Siesta Key is nice as is Anna Maria Island and Pasagrille beach over on the gulf. New Syrmna on The Alantic is on the top of my list too and it's 70 min from Disney. As far as Disney goes I'm not sure what I'd reccomend for an out of towner, it depends own what you like. If there is a hotel in Downown Celebration that wood be very nice and there is Disney busses to all of the parks. Feel free to pm me with questions. I've lived in Orlando most of my life and even worked in the Magic Kingdom during some High School years.

Agreed that you don't need to travel to Bahia Honda in the Keys to get a great beach.

Second Matthew's recommendation for Siesta Key in lovely Sarasota. Fine white sand, shallow water and won't be too busy mid-week. It's expensive to stay right on the water, but plenty of choices just inland. We just stay with my parents south of Tampa and drive down to Siesta Key for the day

I'd recommend going to the Atlantic side. Chill on the beach at Sebastian or Jupiter or some such.

I also recommend Siesta Key. Imagine a beach with powered sugar as the sand. That is Siesta Key. The wife and I have gone for long weekends. Our favorite beach. We live in Orlando.

Bring the CX bike. Hit me up. We just had our state championship yesterday. So the season is just over. Like Jonathan said schedule is not up yet. Even if there is no race scheduled when you are in town, we can rip some mellow singletrack not far from Orlando.

My next FL vacation will include both Siesta Key and a town near Orlando called Yalaha. I just do what F'in Jonathan tells me!

No Disney for us, but then no kids either.
