    Default Carryover from running?

I'm not a runner. I just happen to run when I'm at the gym or when I don't ride. It usually takes the form of walking(4mph), jogging(6mph), faster jogging(7-7.5mph), then 30sec/30sec (10-11mph) intervals for 10 minutes, cool-down.

Other than general fitness, is there carryover to cycling?

Pretty much just general fitness as you mentioned.

That said, If it is running or nothing- running is a pretty good option.

I think that running is a benefit for the athlete who is time limited- Say they would benefit from 6 days per week on the bike but only have time for 3.
Or business travelers who might be stuck doing nothing on the road.
