if you don't mind the German speaking, there is this *great* documentary series on builders and makers by a regional (southwest) German public TV broadcaster. This one is on how to restore a clapped out BMW back to its former glory:

I'm guessing that it's almost as impressive without the words. (no subtitles either)

    Enjoy.
That was great. Reminded me both of working on bicycles and of working on Volkswagen Beetle engines. Squirrels in the starter! And the finned exhaust nut with its special wrench. Setting valves - so much easier when you aren't lying in the driveway on your back under the car. Thanks for posting that.

That is such a nice bike AND I know you ride it.

I'm towing my R1200 GSA to our VA mtn campsite in two weeks than the fun begins. Myself and pal Jim will do some epic rides all his doing. The man posesses a virtual GPS buried in his brain, I think he knows more roads by heart than is really imaginable.

They have been making motorcycles for more than a century (and they were making bicycle as well at a time). But the motorcycle division has been separated and the name has been under licence for the last 3 decades.

The first Belt driven one back in 1904:

Check out Moto Coffee Machine on Warren Street in Hudson for some cool old and new bikes, and some pretty good coffee, too.

In my time away from the salon I turned wrenches on classic bikes for a few years, then did flat rate mechanic work at a well known dealer in Northern Virginia. I got quite good at flipping bikes for profit, and have owned close to a hundred bikes in the last 10 years or so, most just long enough to flip. My favorite was probably this guy. A Canadian market RZ350. I’m a big time unit triumph guy and lover of ironheads. I like the less loved models and ugly ducklings.

Husky's are a more polished and upscale version of a KTM product. Same motor but with more farkles and glitter.

Me and some boys are headed out to Moab from PDX tomorrow. Should be interesting.

I just picked up a Duc ST3S because the Blue Ridge along the VA WVa border is nirvana, as is most of SW Va and all of WVa. Big step for me as my last Duc left me in inpatient rehab for 3 months 10 years ago. Been out a few times and while I'm more cautious, I'm still a little concerned that the ptsd interferes.

Almost packed and ready to roll.

The MTS has been really, really good. I can easily see a V4 something in a few years time.

Very cool. My first street bike was a '75 RD350 so naturally I lusted over the RZs and Suzuki RGs.

Awesome! I got the RZ from a former racer and I got a few of his RDs at the time. Man I wish I’d held onto those.

Not really a motorcycle, but it's a fun little machine:

2007 LXV--got it new but have put barely a thousand miles on it. Spent some quality time with it this winter unclogging the carb and it's running great.

Looks like I gotta keep being patient.

Was hoping to get my bike back this week, but among all of what is being fixed is a new rear shock.

Max BMW got the shock a week ago, but for some reason it arrived without bushings, and the only place in the world they exist is in Berlin.

They should clear customs Tuesday, I am hoping.

Tomorrow I’m going to look at a 1950 Triumph 6T. I am giddy to build a drag bike out of it and stash the original parts away.
