Default Which through axle standard will prevail?

I am developing a frame idea which will work best with through axles.

From my reading, it's come down to Syntace X-12 vs Shimano 12mm.

Not having built a frame with a through axle before, I'm keen to hear experience with either standard or conjecture as to what is likely in the future.

BTW yes, I searched, no thread on the topic came up.

Considering the latest moves of the industry, we can all forget about anything similar to standards, it's gonna be a hell of multiple options to choose from, so basically analize what's available, decide which one you like best and build it accordingly. Call it through axles, bottom brackets, brakes, gearing, headsets, etc

In my own personal opinion, I much rather use DTSwiss axle system than Syntace or Shimano, the lesser bolts/threads/moving parts involved, the better (I'm not big fan of the eccentric "adjustable" stuff), but I know many other builders who are just the opposite, none is right or wrong, just different opinions, make your own.

Only hub compatibility is important, you don't have to plan for the case that someone will use your axle on another frame.

I agree with Aimar. There will not be one option. There will be a few. For my bikes I'm just going to go with 12mm threaded. Up to end user which axle they actually use to fit this option. Pick one you like and use it.

Thanks for the answers guys. I'd already settled on 12 mm thread but there are three thread pitches and the option of flat or conical interface.

I'm going to go with 1.5 mm thread pitch and flat interface (the Shimano standard) as I think I've worked out a way of achieving radial clamping using this configuration, thus obviating the benefit of the conical interface.
