Head tube rings - before or after ht is joined to main tubes?

I'm about to start fillet frame number 7 and wanted to add some HT rings this go around. Do you guys prefer to add them before or after the HT is joined to the main tubes?

I figure with the little (but present) distortion i get that is visible when reaming, that it might be tricky to add them apres.

FWIW I am not using heat sinks, all brass, distortion i'm currently getting is quite minimal so I think my speed and temps are ok while always shooting for better of course...

Any recommendations, tips or tricks out there you care to share?

It depends on the size of the ring, your build order, extension above and below main tubes, adding a fillet over, etc., etc. No right or wrong. Just break down the variables and plug them in the sequence where it makes sense.

Thanks Eric nice to know there is no right or wrong or any strong feelings either way from you - as you've done lots of fillet that's all the answer I think I need!
