Well-played doctor! I had the chance to speak to Roland last year at Philly bike show as well as handle one of these. You won't regret it!

After patiently chasing my "grail" without it being a priority, things finally came together and I've finally completed the trifecta I've always wanted. My new to me 2010-2011 or so Jaeger LeCoultre Master Control Reserve de Marche, 37mm steel with a black dial, model 140.8.93 S. Apologies for the slightly out of focus iPhone pic.

A few nicks from the previous owner, but nothing noticeable until you get out the loupe. Basically, my perfect dress but not too much dress watch. For now it will be my WFH work watch, but we'll be back in the office next year sometime.

Not nearly as fancy as that one ^^, but this one is still my own personal favorite.

Clean readable dial and I imagine pretty bright night time lume. Nice.

My normal daily driver Omega Speedmaster is similar with a classic readable dial, but minus the dial numbers and plus the chrono.

Shocked to discover that I really like a 36mm. Didn't buy it though.

Lucked into this. Long story, but an exceptional watch month for me. Hadn't bought anything for 15 years. Sold a couple I wasn't loving anymore. One more to be picked up tomorrow, then the watch box will be full forever.

I was offered this from an AD two weeks after I walked into their store for the first time and ordered another watch. The salesperson was new and didn't know all the watch geek details of the piece I wanted, so she called over their watch guy. We had a long and enthusiastic conversation during which I drooled over his GMT. I figured I'd try and get on their list sometime in the next couple of years and that it would be a long shot since I'm not a big spender (more of a big saver mentality). Happily shocked when I got a call on Monday offering this to me - another client passed on it. I hit it off with both salespeople and I think that made the difference.

My 2yr old likes to pick my watch for the day. Being a 2yr old, this one is her favorite, because she likes the big easy to push light button on the front.

ok, i was going to post this over in TRF, but don't want to get hit with $10k suggestions that miss the point.

i want a tool watch that's in-between a Pelagos and a BB58....40-42mm, 11-13mm thick, <42hr power reserve. date isn't necessary, but a blue dial would be the cherry on top. brushed finish would be nice.

    any suggestions?

i feel as though i'm pretty much describing an Omega Aqua Terra.

i hate the term "tool watch." perhaps "go anywhere, do anything", instead.

Is that supposed to be >42hr power reserve? Why would you want a shorter power reserve?

I also kinda feel like you're describing a regular old Black Bay. 41mm case, just shy of 13mm thick, brushed case and a few bezel colors to choose from, including blue (though the dial is black).

oh. yeah. more than 42 (essentially ruling out ETA movements). fat finger problems, or lack of proofreading.

i really, really wish the plain ol' BB41 (not the diver...the plain jane one) had a better reserve. i really dig that that thing.

had the 79230 and didn't love it after a few weeks. traded off for my PO 8500...which i love.

Whew. I thought you had some sort of thing with needing to wear your watch or wind it daily.

What didn't you like about the standard Black Bay? That may help with other suggestions.

The navy bezel against the black dial. I generally don’t like black + blue, but there are some watches that can pull it off. Gotta be the right shade of blue.

I'll throw in a vote for the AquaTerra - functional, the newer textured dials are beautiful, appropriate to wear almost anywhere.

Beautiful Lou, nice pick-up. I would have several relatively less productive days at work once I started wearing that.

Sinn U50, though that's right on the power reserve edge.

Seiko SPB143. 40mm, 70 hour power reserve. Homage to Seiko's early skin divers.

But yeah, you're basically talking an Aqua Terra.
