Default Old Articles About Frame Design

In answering another forum's thread about steering geometry I made reference to a batch of Cycling (English magizine) articles about frame building. I found them and up loaded them onto my Flicker site. Enjoy reading the state of the art, as it was considered to be in the 1970s. Andy.

Wow that first page on forks is fascinating. I'm having a hard time making out the magic formula for no movement, is it Rake ab=R(1-sin M)/-cosM ? Cant tell if the slash is handwritten and it looks like =cos M? Thanks for the time spent to upload all these.

Andy- As I said in another thread I've kind of given up on using math to guide my designs by. I do use math for getting the resulting dimensions after estalishing certain givens. I thought that some of you would find these reprints interesting. What's also neat is to look at the ads. So 1970sish. This is what i grew up on. The way ads and articles are presented today is so confusing to my mind sometimes. Andy.

ahh, It's there in a later article. I am sure enjoying reading these.
Rake = Radius(1-sin head angle) / cos head angle.
    thanks
