    Default Stainless Steel Lugs...........

I'm finishing a frame for someone who started it and used a stainless steel lug on the head tube. The shore lines don't look too good and I want to try and tidy it up by filling them in with some silver...........my gut tells me to leave it alone and call it finished but my pride says it can be better. What I was wondering is, if I start heating things up around the TT and HT as long as I keep the temp below "brass brazing temp" and use white flux, will the silver flow and adhere to the stainless steel lug like a "normal" steel lug?

I saw that frame on MTBR, and I think my advise was to use a saw on it. Stainless lugs aren't exactly easy to use, especially if lugs are already a challenge. However, to answer the question you actually asked, you can flow some silver in there without doing any more damage than has already been done

Follow your gut feeling, it is the correct thing to do.
Make your own nice frames, rather than fix the failures of others

That's the eternal paint shop quandary. I've spoken with other painters about this. JB takes the attitude that if it comes out of his shop it'll look perfect. Sometimes that means he "fixes" stuff. Sometimes it's metal work but usually it's putty. Other painters take the approach to just paint it and let the metal working warts show. In this case, I'd suggest to just paint it because this builder will learn more by seeing what paint won't hide than having you make it look better than it really is.
